My classroom is full of 25 active and excited young first grade learners. Every day we grow together as a family, learning and supporting each other.
My students are all children of active duty military members and they face challenges unique to this military life.
These children endure military moves every two to three years, meaning new school, new teacher, new friends on a rotating schedule. They also spend endless time away from their parents who are away training or deployed, and the constant worry about their parent's safety. Yet as difficult and impacting as these outside challenges are, my students continuously prove in the classroom that they are resilient and strong.
My Project
Within our first grade classroom, my student leaders are often in small groups during ELA and Math, working proactively and independently to practice their skills. This allows me time to meet with students for differentiated targeted instruction.
The ETA Hand2Mind Versa Tiles will give my scholars hands-on challenges as they work towards meeting their individual academic goals.
These challenges are self-checking and would provide my students ownership over their learning. In addition to meeting core ELA and Math standards, these particular tile sets are cross curricular, incorporating both Science and Social Studies. This would be a win-win tool in the classroom!
