My students need a document reader camera to be able to easily share work with the class as well as storage and organization for their math portfolios.
Help my students learn from each other, work on presentation skills, practice organization, and gain pride in their math accomplishments. My students come into high school lacking many math skills and I am trying to encourage excellence in math and show them math is not "hard".
I teach Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 in an inner-city school in California.
We are a small school with under 600 students, and our students have come from a broken school system where many of their basic skills are lacking and in some cases have not experienced great success in school. I am trying to encourage pride in their achievements and show them that math is not "hard" and that they can be great at it.
This semester I am trying to create pride in their work and a trail of progress and growth that they can see and reflect on by creating math portfolios for each of the students. I'd like to have storage space for each of them to keep their portfolios in class and access them easily. Also, I want part of their work pride to come from sharing with students in class which is where the document camera projector would come in. The document camera makes it easy for students to bring their written work over and have it projected on the board for others to see it clearly as they share and explain what they have done.
This Portfolio and Student work project will benefit students by sharing their work and being collaborative.
They will also get an opportunity to work on their speaking and presentation skills. Also organization and work pride will be great outcomes of keeping a math portfolio.
