Help me give my students two iPads for our Media Center that will be used by the entire school to help develop a student-driven library.

My Students

Our school has nearly 550 students, Pre K - 5th grade, that enjoy using the technology we have now in the school, but much of our technology is aging and no longer works properly. We have an incredibly diverse school with a large military population. Many students do not have access to technology at home and rely on our school to provide technology instruction at school.

We have an excellent, enthusiastic group of students at our school and we would love to provide them with more up-to-date technology resources to enhance their learning!

My Project

At our school, we are in the process of incorporating more current technology into daily instruction. We are moving to a flexible checkout model in our Media Center and would like iPads to help provide students with guided tours of the sections in the Media Center and guided instructions on how to check out books.

Even though it does not seem like much, two iPads would make a significant difference in our school.

Students will use the iPads in the Media Center to scan QR codes that direct them to student-created videos explaining the following:

-How to check in/out books

-Sections in the library

-How to search for a book in your reading level

-Dewey decimal number meanings

This will allow students to check out books anytime they need to, rather than during a scheduled library time. The goal is to improve circulation and get more books into students' hands!

This project will affect the entire school population, so any help is greatly appreciated by all of our students and staff!
