Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My first graders come from backgrounds of near or extreme urban poverty. I have a diverse group of six and seven year old students who are full of enthusiasm and creativity. They arrive to school each day excited to learn and full of energy. They love working with technology, creating projects, singing, dancing, and hands-on activities.

Most importantly my students are full of possibility.

They dream big, which inspires me to be the best educator I can be and do all I can for them.

My Project

My students will be able to listen and follow along with the instructional programs our district utilizes without constant distractions. The instructional programs we use focus on literacy and math. They also support individualized instruction and remediation of concepts students struggle to comprehend. They will also be able to have their own set of headphones to take with them to our school's computer lab.

Currently, we have no headphones for our classroom.

Students become distracted with their peers' devices, which negatively impacts student learning, achievement, and behavior. These headphones will help support learning and student attention. My students and I thank you for making a difference in their lives and learning.
