My students need n a space at their tables to hold all of their supplies. Getting up to one "supply corner" often creates a ton of traffic during transitions as well as a messy classroom.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine moving to a new country. You walk into a classroom and you may not have ever had any formal education before. You have never read or written and you have this smiling teacher talking to you in a language you don't understand. Now, this same teacher is requiring you to read, write and test in that same new language. These are the students I teach every day.
Many of my student struggle with literacy in their own native language and are now thrust into a formal school setting taught in their target language.
Now, as high schoolers they are expected to learn and test in English. My 10th graders will still have to take and pass the MCAS as part of their graduation requirement, regardless of how much English they acquire from the time the start to the time MCAS takes place in March.
My students have come from all around the world, from many different and often difficult situations. They often enter with frustrations and fears and they need as much support as possible.
My Project
Since my students have low level of language aquisition, I often pair them at group desks based on level. These storage bins would be in the middle of each grou of desk.
Each drawer has a purpose.
The top is for cell phones. the second drawer is for translation dictionaries. The 3rd is for notebooks and folders for each person at the table. The 4th is for markers, highlighters, pencils.pen. The final drawer is for tissues, sharpeners and the books we are reading.
These bins will help students learn to stay an keep organized. They will decrease the issues of loosing materials and papers and ensure that every students has their supplies at their stations.
