Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

With the recent start to our second semester, our goal is to increase and improve student engagement by providing additional student enrichment resources. Students in our credit recovery program come down to our section of the high school to sit in a classroom for almost 90 minutes on a laptop taking an online course. Many students find it difficult to sustain attention for that period of time.

In order to build student enrichment, this project's goal is to provide flexible seating in a section of the classroom and provide additional mental health support by having more coloring books, coloring pencils, fidgets, available for students to have either in classroom or when they come to the social workers office.

We are also rolling out a new attendance incentive for our most disengaged and chronically absent students and have included some prizes that we would like to give out to our MVP students such as scooters and electronics. Our students have overcome many barriers and we know they will succeed with the right tools!
