Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This is a typical neighborhood school where students come from a variety of backgrounds, ethnic make-up and social-economic conditions. They love their family. Many walk or bike to school; some ride the city bus. Our students think globally about how they are a part of the whole. They are particularly interested in each other and finding peaceful solutions to conflict.

Our students are inquisitive, respectful and creative.

This is a "tight-knit" middle school where students attend sixth through eighth grade.

My Project

Our students have strong family connections. Our teachers have volunteered to introduce our students to the tradition of making gifts for the holidays. All students have an opportunity to create mini projects of their choice: pot holders, candles, filled bulbs, ornaments, scarves, soap and many more. This is an eight week activity ending with a wrapping party.

You will be providing our students with a chance to learn traditional craft skills and feel the satisfaction of making a gift by their own hands.

This time together, teachers with students, is priceless. Basic arts and crafts supplies are needed to make this dream come true.
