Help me give my students items to stock up our school store. They can use tickets that they receive for demonstrating respectful behaviors in order to get these special items.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are 6th-8th graders. The school is in a high-needs inner-city neighborhood. The students are very interested in learning new things but the school has very limited resources. It is very frustrating having students who love to learn but do not have materials or experiences to support that desire.
I enjoy motivating and inspiring my students to be their best, so understanding and appreciating the value of education is very critical.
They deserve to have educational experiences and resources that support the high goals that they work towards every day. That's why it is so frustrating that all of the budget cuts made by the big decision makers seem to directly impact my students.
I am doing my best to try to bring positive, meaningful learning opportunities to my classroom, and I strive to make it a place that my students love to enter every day.
My Project
My school is located in a low-income, high-needs area of the city. Every day the staff diligently works toward teaching students to demonstrate respectful behaviors that will eventually help them to become successful members of society. Teachers receive "high-five tickets" that they give to students for demonstrating respectful behaviors, such as respecting teaching, respecting others, and respecting the environment. The students can then redeem these tickets at the end of each month to get special trinkets from our school store.
The student council members have taken the lead in helping to promote a respectful environment throughout our school.
Each month they help run the school store. As the teacher who works with and supervises the student council, I have been seeking ways to help them fill the store up with things that the kindergarten-8th grade students in our school can get when it is time to redeem the high-five tickets they earned throughout the month. The items in my proposal will be used for just that. The students will be able to come with their tickets and get special things that will motivate them to be respectful and do their best each day.
