Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is a public charter school in Columbus, Ohio. Attendance sits around 350 students. The 3rd grade consists of two classes of around 50 students. These students are mainly Hispanic who receive ESL services, a large African-American population, with a few Somalian, Caucasian, and Asian students as well. 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch and come from low-income households.
These students are ready to learn, but they need additional resources to take their learning to the next level.
The third grade students are dedicated to learning but have very limited supplies. Many of the students do not receive help at home. Some of my students have even told me they don't have any books at home! I want to provide these students with as much as possible while they are at school because of their lack of resources and support at home. These donations for supplies will help me to teach and prepare my students for their future education and lives.
My Project
My students would love to have these requested Flex-Space Comfy Floor Seats with a back and Wobble Cushions that are comfortable for the floor. This way, the students I have who struggle to work effectively at their seats, can have resources that are comfortable and allow movement outside the classic desk.
The growth my students will be able to make from access to these materials is incredibly high.
There are at least nine students in my classroom diagnosed with behaviors that result with endless movement and they are constricted in their desks. They struggle to perform their best as they are so distracted from their movement being restrained in a desk and chair.
