This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our kindergarten classroom has no place to store students' books at their desks. The teacher needs to pass out and collect the textbooks for each subject, wasting valuable instructional time. The book pockets will organize the classroom! Pencil sharpening also takes too much instructional time away.

My students are kindergarten age children.

They come from an urban setting in a high poverty school. Our school needs supplies to help our students organize their supplies. We have tables with no drawers to store our books. The teacher needs to pass out and collect the books each time. This takes away teaching time! Pencils need to be sharpened fast, and we need an electric pencil sharpener!

My Project

My students will store their textbooks and workbooks in the chair pocket and have easy access to the curriculum and thus save valuable instructional minutes! The teacher will be able to teach the routines of how to place the books in the chair pocket. Also keeping pencils sharp will be easy and not time consuming with the new electric pencil sharpener!

Having our books organized will create a stimulating learning environment where students are free from clutter.

Having storage space at our tables will make a huge improvement in classroom management! Pencils will be available for writing with our new electric sharpener, no more lines at the old wall sharpener!
