My Students

My sixth grade music students are energetic and excited to create and perform music. With pop music being a huge part of our music culture, these kids are wanting to learn music skills to be able to perform in that music genre. Only a select few of these students play another musical instrument and can thereby enjoy the feelings of exhilaration when new musical skills are learned and mastered. These students are creative, hard-working, and are eager to succeed. They are up to the challenge of learning to play musical instruments.

My Project

Ukuleles will be played by sixth graders each music class. These sixth graders are preparing to enter junior high or middle school and are ready for an additional musical experience compared to the younger elementary school students.

As sixth graders learn to play the ukulele, they will practice and improve musical skills that may be used both inside and outside of the classroom.

The ukuleles serve as a tool to help students gain greater confidence in their emerging musical abilities. Students are most interested in performing music that is popular in today's culture. The ukulele will allow students to perform music that is part of that culture. These students will benefit greatly from your help in securing us these materials!
