Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my school range from grades nine to twelve. Our classes are full of intelligent, self-driven, curious and well-rounded students, who are ready and willing to adapt to new ways of learning and take pride in their accomplishments. They do so much with very little and my goal as an educator is to afford my kids every single opportunity that is possible. They are my kids, and I am very proud of them.
These are hardworking and dedicated kids!
Aside from Physical Education and Health, our students take a variety of classes ranging from the academically mandated classes to Advanced Placement Classes, Student Government, leadership classes and a list of other academically challenging courses that help drive their interest and build their knowledge base.
Our students are always ready to lend a helping hand, and they do, acknowledging that service to others is one of the most important things we can do in society. They assist the teachers, counselors, and administration, as requested, and go above and beyond what is expected of them. I am grateful to be working with such kids. Students like this make our school what it is, a community of leaders and helpers.
My Project
We are requesting two electric guitars so that we may start a new guitar class in our school. The guitar is a very popular instrument among the students, and many students have expressed the fact that they would sign up for a guitar class if it were offered.
Obtaining these guitars is a step closer to being able to offer something different to our students.
We have several teachers interested in teaching this class, and they are ready to go when we have enough instruments. Being able to offer new things to our students allows them the opportunity to have more choices and makes their learning experience more interesting and enjoyable.
