Strong Strategies For Second Graders will Surely Lead to Success!
Help me give my students appropriately leveled resources such as a portable word wall, reading comprehension strategy posters, morning and afternoon meeting agendas, a sound wall to help build phonics and writing journal prompts to help them succeed.
I am blessed to teach second grade at a wonderful Title I school in northeast North Carolina. Our students are loving, hard-working, easily motivated, and care about each other and their success! They thrive on competitions and reaching goals set for them throughout the school year.
Our students get excited, work harder, and stay more engaged when they are given options and choices which makes them feel valued and that their interests matter!
We are a diverse school consisting of students and families from various backgrounds and cultures, as well as Coast Guard families. They are each unique and have a special way of winning our hearts with their kindness and thoughtfulness. The students and staff at our elementary school have truly become a family to one another!
Although I have been teaching since 1996, this will be my first year teaching second grade. When I moved my classroom at the end of May, I decided I was going to begin this new adventure with a clean slate. After moving into a classroom with very little resources for my students, this summer I started following and connecting with some expert 2nd grade teachers in the group, Not So Wimpy Second Grade Teachers on Facebook. What a blessing they have been in sharing ideas, successful strategies and effective resources they use in their classrooms.
The resources requested in this project from Teachers Pay Teachers will help me to be able to provide my second graders with strategies for organization, having a growth mindset, showing compassion and empathy towards one another and also reading and writing strategies starting on day one and continuing throughout the entire school year.
I am so excited about these resources and know they will make a positive impact on my students' learning as well as our classroom environment. Thank you so much for considering this project which will provide me with effective up to date resources to help make my first year teaching 2nd grade successful for me as well as for my new group of incoming students.
