This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hardworking children. My classroom is located in the heart of the Central Valley. Many of my students are English Learners as well as migrant, transient, or homeless.

Many of my students wake up at dawn and stay at school until 5:30 every evening, and, for many of my students, school is the only dependable and stable part of their lives.

These young students work hard every day to conquer the learning that is put in front of them. Their passion and commitment to learning should be an inspiration to us all!

My Project

As guided reading and leveled libraries are new to my district, my classroom leveled library is quite small. I use a leveled library so that every child is able to read books that are just at their level. Some of my kids are reaching level "L" and I only have a couple books available for them.

This new collection of books would give my advanced readers more choices and encourage their continued growth!

When these kids go 'book shopping' every week, they will be able to read exciting fiction books that will keep them motivated and engaged in their reading. I know their love for books will keep growing!
