Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most mornings I spend the first few minutes checking in with each student to see where their school brain is. Are they hungry, sad, angry, or embarrassed? What can I do to put that first smile on their face and switch their brain into learning mode?
My students are a group of hard-working kids who encounter everyday situations most adults could never even dream of.
My school works hard to create a community where all families feel welcome and safe. We have an almost 90% free or reduced-price lunch rate, and most years families don't have the financial means to purchase school supplies.
My Project
The materials that I am looking for are flexible seating options. I would like to start giving my students a choice in where and on what they sit. Things like stability balls help engage the response in the brain to help the muscles engage to sit on the balls properly.
I want my students to be successful, and allowing them some choice in their classroom really helps them engage.
Things like stability balls, stools, chairs and more will really allow them learn in the best way for them. I am also looking for some florescent light covers as the lights in the classroom are often harsh on our eyes. Thank you for supporting my students and me.
