This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are an enthusiastic group who love to be engaged in their lessons and take pride in their school. We are located in an urban area in Central North Carolina. Over 50% of our student population is eligible for free and reduced lunch, and the End of Course scores historically have been lower than the state average.
They are all committed to the process of becoming better students and better people.
I am a science educator and football coach here, and I am excited to connect real world experiences to their understanding of academics and athletics to help them grow and succeed.
My Project
The materials and supplies for this project will be used to revamp and renovate our athletics program within the school. Our recreation facilities have not been renovated since our school opened in 1997. Students will be able to to use the kettlebells, shoulder harnesses, and jump ropes in our weight rooms.
These items will be used to prepare our athletes for the physical demands of interscholastic sports, and to properly train in our physical education classes.
Students will be under the supervision of staff and able to not only build their bodies, but their minds. These supplies are necessary to build up our students, as well as, our athletic programs.
