Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with the most awesome kids in the world. I love how excited they get when they get hands-on opportunities to learn on any topic. The children at the school live in one of the most impoverished neighborhoods in the country.
We need the tools, school supplies, and books to achieve our goal of all children in our school reading at grade level by the end of the school year.
I run a book club before and after school to support students in becoming book lovers and avid readers. I support them by giving them reading “passports” so they can practice summarizing their writing and remember key points when they take their Accelerated Reader quizzes.
My Project
The students will use these book to ignite their love of learning and reading. Our school is focused on having students read more self-selected books. We have a small supply of books for the children to choose from.
The purpose of this project is to help students learn to read, and then LOVE to read!
This is why I am asking for these books for my students. Some of the books have CDs which will be awesome to use in my classroom listening center. The books chosen are award winning, classic books that the children will love to get their hands on.
We hope that these books spark the inner genus in the next generation of scholars.
