Kindergarten is a milestone in the lives of my 24 students. Our school is located in a predominantly rural, low-income neighborhood with a considerable portion of the children being of native Hawaiian and/or Pacific Island ancestry. With the financial and family challenges impacting their lives, most of my students do not have access to current technology which is critical to facilitating their learning.
My Project
iPads are versatile devices which will positively impact my teaching and my students' learning. Using the iPads will allow me to model and teach common core standards in a manner that is more engaging to my students. iPads can be instrumental in captivating students' attention, motivating them to learn, and capitalizing on their strengths and interests.
My students will use the iPads to learn new academic skills and reinforce learned skills in a game format. They will learn the basics of word processing, taking/editing pictures/videos, creating digital presentations, and managing their own student portfolios. The iPads will provide my students with experiences that will positively impact their technological efficiency throughout their academic lives. The iPad covers will ensure that the iPads will be kept in good condition for future kindergarten students.
We are striving to innovate teaching and learning in our class through current technology.
