This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are on a new learning adventure. This band program is starting up from scratch. The band program closed down 5 years ago. I teach approximately 70 band students in grades 6-12. All of my students are beginner band students since the program is just starting up again.
My students are excited about having the opportunity to learn to play an instrument.
They are very inquisitive and enthusiastic about learning to play and about starting a band program at our school. My students have a new outlet for expression.
My Project
The mouthpieces will give my students the opportunity to learn to play brass instruments that the school already owns. The larger brass instruments were stored several years ago without mouthpieces.
Your donation will give my students the gift of music.
With these mouthpieces, my students will learn to play instruments such as french horn, trombone, baritone, and tuba. The school owns some quality brass instruments. Unfortunately, there were no mouthpieces stored with the instruments. We are starting up the band program from scratch. The band program closed 4 years ago. The school and the community want to see the band program form again.
