Help me give my students quality and engaging fiction books to help them soar in their reading skills and open their minds to the adventures of reading!
A favorite activity in our second grade classroom is reading by far! We love all sorts of genre: adventures, mysteries, history, comedy, fiction, non-fiction, poetry, science fiction, comics, and much more.
My students come from all sorts of backgrounds and over 70% of them receive free lunch, but I make absolutely no excuses for them!
It is important to instill the love of reading in all of my students. Every day is a new day to learn and grow in my classroom!
I am in need of fiction books in my second grade classroom. I'm especially in need of books that are appealing to all of my readers, including the struggling readers. These books would be used during our independent daily reading time, as well as free reading. The students would also be given an opportunity to check these books out to take home. My elementary school is a low-income school where there is a high need for students to have books provided to them to take home to read.
Books are a glimpse into the world! They deserve to feel excited about reading despite their reading levels!
My Project
Second graders are so curious about the world around them. It's so refreshing! They are constantly aiming to be better readers and 21st century learners. As requested in this project, these fiction books would benefit my students of all reading levels. Typically by second grade, most students have developed a love of reading, or not. It is a very sad, but true fact. I want to provide quality books at their interest level that are engaging and informative, as well as meet their needs at their independent reading level.
This project would strive to meet both of these important needs with engaging and informative books!
