My middle school students are amazing! They are a part of a small rural school district that strives to achieve on all levels. Like many rural communities, we have been affected by the lingering economic situation. Our school has a very high rate of students participating in the free and reduced price lunch program. Many families have lost their income because of businesses closing and jobs being scaled back. Resources at school have also been cut drastically because of declining enrollment when families look for employment elsewhere.
My Project
My students love our flexible seating classroom, and they thrive with the opportunity to use various seating, change positions within the classroom, and learn in novel environments. We need organization solutions that can move with us, and help us stay organized while we move around the room.
These organizing bins and standing desks will help our classroom storage work better for us by allowing us to have the materials we need organized and at our fingertips anytime.
My students will be able to take charge of the materials and put them away independently in the clearly labeled bins, which will help them to learn vital skills and take leadership roles in the classroom. Most importantly, this will give them a stress free learning space.
