I teach a semester Health class to eighth graders. During both semesters, the class is offered for high school credit. The students create a very diversified class with different languages and ethical backgrounds.
My students are eager to learn and I want to provide them with hands on experiences to complement the book work.
The items listed will help make stress balls as we discuss stress management and emotional/mental health. The pizza boxes are to create a culminating project after we study nutrition.
Students will be able to use the stress ball they create to help with stress management or they can give it away to a loved one. Students will be learning tools and ways to identify stress and anxiety and the effects it can have on us. To alleviate stress, students may use techniques discussed in class.
Students can continue with hands on learning in our Nutrition unit and have a culminating activity making a pizza box project to show what they have learned.
This will take place of the traditional book work and test that students normally have at the end of a unit.
