My Pre-K students are learning at home, with whatever materials they have available in their homes. I send daily videos to my students that include activities and read alouds. Many of my students are below the line of poverty, so the resources they have at home are very limited.
My Project
While my Pre-K students have adjusted to learning at home, many of my students are below the line of poverty and do have have even the basic resources found in our classroom. Having a box of crayons will not only allow them to develop their creativity, but also allow them to work on skills like sequencing and comprehension as they draw pictures of stories that I read to them on Zoom. They can continue to strengthen their hand muscles by cutting and drawing, which many of them are not able to do at home without these basic supplies. Playdough is a fun way to strengthen their hand muscles without even realizing that they are exercising. My students need strong hands to hold their pencils firmly when they begin school again next year!
