Help families grow and students learn! I am a fifth grade teacher with 25 students. Our class if full of diverse learners who love to be a part of active learning.

Learning about reading maps and using Latitude and Longitude can be so boring!! Learning is at its best when it is hands on. But how do we pull students in and get them excited about such a mundane topic?

Using personal GPS units will make our unit on mapping fun and exciting. The students will take part in finding "hidden treasure" using coordinates given by the GPS units. After they show a strong understanding of how Latitude and Longitude work, students may check out the GPS units for the weekend. Families will work together to discover other "treasures" I have placed throughout the community. What a great opportunity to get outside, work and grow as a family, and learn key concepts at the same time!! After mastery of these concepts, students are encouraged to use the units to helps those in the school whom are struggling with understanding of mapping skills.

Your help with make sure students are learning in a hands on manner. Not only will this get them away from their desk and get them outdoors, but it will help families grow stronger! You will be making education exciting!
