Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are so incredibly special that they drive me to continue to improve my skill every day. These kids face many challenges, more than I could have even imagined when I was their age, but they still show up to school every day ready to learn. They inspire me to be the best I can every moment I get with them.
I teach kids who have fallen behind in reading and/or math, but it is certainly not due to lack of effort.
The obstacles that these kids face everyday act as roadblocks to their learning, but they push through daily and persevere. They arrive at school with smiles, eager to learn. My kids need help with reading foundational skills and number sense in math, so it is my job to help them fill holes.
My Project
As a small group reading teacher my job is to fill holes to build foundational skills that are keeping my students from being successful in reading, writing, and math. This conference is given by Jen Serravallo, an amazing teacher and author from Teachers College. Her books have guided my instruction for years.
Donating towards this project will help me improve my use of Jen Serravallo's professional texts , and will help me deliver strong reading and writing instruction to my students.
This will have instant pay off as I come back to my kids and help them meet their goals. Please consider donating and helping me become the strong reading teacher that my kids deserve.
