Our school is an academically successful, rural high school that is filled to the brim with about 900 wonderful students. We serve our military community as well, pulling in students whose parents work at the USMC and Naval facilities at either Camp Lejeune, Cherry Point, Bogue Air Field, or the two Coast Guard stations.
In the state's ranking system, our high-performing high school has been ranked as a top ten public high school in NC for eleven consecutive years.
We are proud of our success in the classroom.
On September 13, 2018, our community was hit hard by Hurricane Florence. Again, in 2019, we were hit by Hurricane Dorian. Although the hurricanes might have re-shaped us, they won't define us. We are still in recovery mode. We were "CarteretStrong" then and my students remain that way now: strong, resilient, flexible, and hard-working.
My Project
All the athletic teams at our school work out in our weight room, aka the strength and conditioning room. Our athletes have different needs: some of our football team members need to gain bulk, some of our swimming athletes need to lose weight, some basketball team players need to strengthen muscles, some track stars just need to loosen up. Our baseball team regularly holds practice in the weight room, as certainly do our wrestlers. ALL our athletic teams benefit.
All the athletes of our team sports use a combination of equipment, and are especially partial to the resistance bands, as part of the rotation and routine in the strength and conditioning room.
This project will provide six sets of strength and conditioning rubber/resistance bands. This is a project in a series of projects to replace or upgrade equipment. However, our budget for strength and conditioning materials have been literally "stretched to the limit" as we have jockeyed to keep our athletes fit. Thank you for considering this project.
