Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The building I teach in is the most ethnically diverse in our large district. The student body is surprisingly represented by children from over 15 different countries from all over the world! However, the majority of the student body is African-American (52%) and White (36%).

My previous experiences with DonorsChoose.org and the ways it has impacted my students have been exceptional!

For this project, I am hoping to expose all 950 students at my school to a safe and guided fitness program that they can use for the rest of their lives.

My Project

Our school is in the beginning stages of setting up a fitness room for all students to use. We currently have the bare essentials and are looking to expand.

Our boys and girls are super excited to try supervised and safe strength training!

Many of them play sports and are looking to start putting in the extra work behind the scenes.

This weight set would allow all students to participate, as it spans widely in its weight range. Our goal is to teach proper techniques and to instill a love of building ones body through exercise to reach its maximum potential.
