Strengtening Basketball Team Defense Communication

My Students

I teach three groups of 30 students in PE classes and my students are fabulous. They are truly motivated for sports although they are kind of nerds. I also coach high school basketball.

I am in charge of Benjamin Franklin, of course not the real one, but the costume and work with students who impersonate the great Benjamin.

We like to refer to the great inventor quite often and Benjamin greets people at the door for special events.

I interact with students, through coaching. It is very useful, as I work in the front office a few hours a day. They often confide in me and I try to help with any issues they may have. When needed, I refer them to the social worker or counselors.

When they come and talk about their families' financial difficulties, I try to help my students get appropriate equipment or school supplies. I hope that you, good DonorsChoose supporters, will want to help us. Thank you very much.

My Project

Defense On a String is a basketball practice tool designed to teach defensive principles. It has 5 belts that are connected by bungee cords to simulate the concept of a team playing on a string defensively.

With this product, my basketball players will learn both man-to-man or zone defense.

The equipment fosters the muscle memory needed for good defensive execution by reinforcing the need for every player to move when the ball is in flight.
