The majority of my students are Native American, male, receive free or reduced breakfast/lunch, and are being raised in single-parent homes. They are a very social, inquisitive, bright, and active group of children. They are learning to work together as they explore their creative ideas and desire lots of opportunities to complete partner work/discussions and small group learning activities.
They enjoy reading, team-building exercises, and hands-on science and math activities.
My students are very bright and enjoy activities and literature that spark their creativity and problem-solving abilities; they enjoy being challenged! To consistently and effectively engage my students in their academic tasks, they require a more equipped learning environment that allows them to relax and feel comfortable as they enhance their academic skills.
My Project
Reading is a daily necessity for learning. A classroom set of Storyworks Jr. booklets will give my children the reading exposure they need to be successful. Storyworks Jr. booklets, used for small group instruction, provide opportunities for students to read articles on current events that are engaging and appropriate for young students at their individual stage of reading development.
Storyworks Jr will give students access to articles and activities that not only aid in enhancing reading and writing skills but promote global awareness of current events.
Hopefully, this resource will pique my students' reading interests and elevate their love for reading.
