This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kids are a bright, energetic group of young people. They love science, problem solving, and math. I want them to love reading and writing just as much. My favorite part of teaching is when students earn that "aha" moment, when they 'get' something or persevere. Many of them come from military families, so they know upheaval and long stretches of one parent households.

School is their constant, their refuge.

Our parents value education and do what they can to help.

My Project

I teach 3 period of English/Language Arts. We would use the Scholastic Storyworks in small group instruction. I teach 5 students at a time in an intimate setting in the my class as the rest of the students work on applying what was learned with me.

Reading is the key to every success!

Allowing me this resource will insure that I can reach in child where they are and grow them toward where they need to be.

Storyworks has a plethora of different types of writing and thought provoking guiding questions in each and every article. It also does a great job making the passages,poems and nonfiction articles relevant to my students.
