My students need more real world, nonfiction texts, and fiction texts as well as learning reading strategies to go with them..

My students are the best!

They're constantly growing and developing, and that's what 3rd grade is all about. They love to engage in projects and of course...ask why. My 3rd-grade students will be eager to start in the fall of 2018 with a lot of learning, exploring, and discovering. My students come from low-income families but they are the most thankful and grateful kids I have ever known.

When I read to my students, they SOAK up the information, comprehension strategies, skills, and underlying theme of each magazine.

They enjoy being read to and will enjoy even more the projects and skills that go along with each magzine.

I have a chance here for my third graders to go farther than ever in a year of school. Please help us meet our standards and go further!

My Project

Your generous donation will serve 25 students. I have books, but they are mainly fiction books whereas the Storyworks magazine is nonfiction-fiction-poetry-plays, etc.... They teach a variety of skills such as text features, main idea and details, inference, point of view, theme, questioning, writing, and much much more! Students will each receive their own magazine on a weekly basis and there is a technology aspect that I use regularly. The most important aspect is the teaching of current events. So many kiddos nowadays don't know what's going on in the world. I can't tell you how excited my students are to get their magazine and pour over its contents!
