I am a kindergarten teacher to a group of enthusiastic and excited five year old students in a Title I school. My kindergartners come to school everyday eager and excited to learn. They are are curious, active, silly, and excited about absolutely everything.
I want to ensure I do everything in my power to spark their imagination and creativity.
In addition, I want to help my students develop social skills in order to become empathic and caring little people.
My school encompasses a high population of low socioeconomic families and English Language Learners. All of my students receive a free lunch at school. My goal is to provide engaging and exciting experiences in our classroom in order to make sure every student learns how to create, communicate, and learn all of the foundational skills they will need to be successful in the years to come.
My Project
This puppet theater and alphabet puppets will inspire my student's imagination and encourage creative and cooperative play. I know they will greatly benefit from and enjoy a puppet theater and puppets. Learning through play is fundamental in my classroom because it helps students develop the necessary skills to be empathetic and kind. In kindergarten we focus tremendously on skills like taking turns, sharing, and using our words to express ourselves. Puppets lend themselves perfectly to all of these things.
This puppet theater will be a powerful too to help develop students' oral language, vocabulary, and help my students express themselves.
My students will be able to retell stories and create their own stories with this puppet theater. They will also be able to act them out using this puppet theater and puppets.
The alphabet puppets will be a great way to introduce and review letters of the alphabet. My students will be engaged and excited to learn and review new letters, which will lead to their reading foundational skills. Our classroom puppets will also foster social interaction, communication, role playing, imagination, story telling, listening, and so much more. I know my students will enjoy these puppets and taking part in creating and acting out their stories.
