My students need Apple iPhones and virtual reality headsets to see and explore the places that they are learning about and translate these experiences into stories they can share.
My students are self motivated thinkers and innovators with diverse needs who are making a difference in the world. They are inclusive and work together as a team to achieve both personal and group goals. They utilize each other's strengths while working to improve each other's weaknesses. My students celebrate the good and the not so good. They are optimists. They are problem solvers. They are talented risk takers. They are leaders. My students make us a true community of learners.
My students are active, eager learners who need to be able to explore the landmarks and National Parks around the United States and tell stories of their adventures while visiting these different places.
My Project
Have you ever sat in a classroom listening to a teacher give a lecture, being required to take notes, all the while wondering what these places you're learning about actually look like? I know that when I was a student learning and being asked to write about what I was learning, I found it boring and hard. How do I write about something I have never experienced?
Through the use of the Apple iPhones and Virtual Reality goggles, my students will be able to explore the places they are learning about and then be able to write thrilling stories about the experiences they had!
These will help students learn to be storytellers because they will be experiencing the things they are learning about. Instead of learning about the Statue of Liberty, they will be able to go there and see it for themselves. Bringing these adventures into the classroom will help develop my students as writers because they will be even more eager to share their experiences through stories that they can share with others!
