We attend a large public school that has around 800 students. The students are from all socioeconomic classes. Our school has an array of racial groups represented. We have six third grade self-contained classrooms with around 25 students in each. We learn reading, math, science, South Carolina history, and writing.
Our students are very inquisitive eight- and nine-year olds that love to learn despite the many challenges they face in and outside of the classroom.
For this reason, we try to provide our students with creative and meaningful learning experiences that are fun and engaging.
At the beginning of the year, we introduce our third graders to a variety of genres, including Fairy Tales and Folk Tales. Having a true storyteller come and perform for them will really make the stories come to life for the students. Not only is this an enriching experience, but it allows students to see one method of presenting work they will do later in the year.
Exposing students to as many enriching experiences as possible help them grow as learners.
Mrs. Dawson will also be providing a craft activity in which the students will create quilt squares. We believe that this experience will be engaging and exciting.
