Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 45 students. My students are five and six years old kids from different cultures back grounds, ethnicities, social and economic groups and are looking for to became bilingual, critical thinkers and problem solvers.
They are ready to learn a new language full of energy, curiosity and questions.
In the mornings students enter my room with smiles and are excited to learn something new. They love to use their imagination to create pictures, build structures, and tell stories. As they learn new things, I can see the sparkle in their eyes as they build, create, and learn how to read and write.
My Project
My kindergarten students enjoy using their imagination and retelling their favorite stories and poems. They enjoy going to our classroom library and using puppets to read the books we have read together.
My students love to use puppets to create their own stories.
Puppets increase their imagination and encourages them to be actively engage in learning as they develop oral language.
Having storytelling kits for some of our favorite childhood stories and poems will give student the opportunity to develop a sense of story, self-confidence, teamwork, and language skills. The storytelling kits in my multicultural classroom will improve my students to be successful in learning another language.
