My students need a listening center, story starters, word wands, and 2 sets of stories on tape for our classroom.
This project expired on April 21, 2012.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Who doesn't enjoy a great story throughout the day? I remember when i was a little girl in Kindergarten I loved to hear stories on tape! Now a days tapes are outdated and Cd's get scratched or damaged. MP3's are the way to go for my Kindergarten class.
My students are very diverse.
They are very multicultural with one common goal to have fun and learn in school. At this stage in life they are all so eager to be at school and so happy with their minor accomplishments. They all come from caring families that have taken that extra step in caring for their education. Many of my parents camped outside of our school to make sure they were enrolled on our campus, that desire for success makes a huge impact on their character.
With the listening center, story starters, and stories on tape I have requested, I will be able to open up a listening center for my students so they can choose to hear a story during independent work hour. I am lucky enough to have an IPOD for my classroom I simply need the equipment so they can hear it quietly while I work with other students in a small group setting.
This project is very important because listening to read aloud stories builds fluency, vocabulary, and listening skills which are a key standards in Kindergarten.
Giving my students the right start in their early educational careers is key to success for their future.
