Storing Our STEAM Projects; Budding Engineers Need Bins!
Help me give my students a chance to organize their steam materials in order to have easy access for planning, building, collaborating, redesigning and construction! Budding engineers are on the horizon!
My students are a diverse group of amazing kids who have goals and aspirations just like most children. However, many struggle with the barriers of poverty, language acquisition, special needs and parents working very long hours. Some of our children have emotional needs and are living in homeless shelter motels that have recently opened in our area.
My high-poverty students strive to succeed, but are limited by the lack of resources available in our small public school environment.
We're trying hard to change that dynamic! Many of my students dream of becoming science and technology leaders. We have some serious-minded, talented students I am certain will master challenges that I would have trouble hurdling.
My students are a constant amazement. I endeavor to support their dreams to the best of my abilities. My kids are the hardest working group of individuals I've been given the joy of educating!
My Project
In Science exploration, communication is a key element; the play on words is intended. When scientists discover wonderful new exciting outcomes, they need to be able to document and share their ideas with others. In our STEM lab, we are struggling to be the best design engineers we can be. In the areas of documenting our findings through writing down our discoveries in a timely and coherent manner, is where we need some help.
We have some wonderful, but scattered, STEM materials that would benefit greatly from plastic bins for easy identification and use.
We would love to have more organizational control for studying concepts and accessing hands-on supplies with time-saving ease. Also, art and engineering supplies such as; crayons, scissors, and colorful paper would help to make their ideas for the engineering design process come alive and pop with colorful images. Communicating our ideas, getting feedback and documenting our research is the direction we are trying for improvement.
