Help me give my students a reading resource that will spark their curiosity while exploring numerous genres. Each student will have their own magazine to read, annotate, and bring home to share with their family.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a bright and promising new school year has arrived, it brings me back to the wise words of Malcolm X who said, "Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." Let me introduce a piece of that promising future to you here in our "Sun City" known as El Paso.
Our grade level is truly blessed to have students who come into our classrooms eager to learn new concepts, who work hard to fill each other's invisible buckets with acts of kindness, who are willing to take risks and make mistakes, and who are team players that enjoy working cooperatively.
Our fourth grade students believe in the "Power of Yet!" and we look forward to learning from each other (I am always learning new things from my students).
My Project
These magazines spark curiosity and inspire non-readers to WANT to read! It provides many tools for differentiation, such as leveled questions and activities. We would build stronger vocabulary and background knowledge through behind the scene videos, critical thinking questions, and vocabulary. This would provide students with numerous genres to read and support more real world connections. Most importantly, this subscription would create a home to school connection because students would be able to bring their text home or log into the Scholastic website to view their stories online. Storyworks would make reading exciting and fun!
Creating life-long readers is our goal, and Storyworks could be an essential resource that could help us achieve this.
