My students are amazing first-grade learners in a suburban school district in the Midwest. My students come from all walks of life. We have a wonderful mix of boys and girls, as well as many different cultural backgrounds. We are fortunate to have many supportive parents in our school family!
First graders, by nature, are curious, creative, and social!
I am always on the lookout for ways for them to be creative thinkers and problem solvers while having FUN together!
My Project
First graders learn best when they can interact with concepts in hands-on ways. I am requesting two kinds of STEM building supplies to meet this learning need. The fairy tale STEM set included in this project combines STEM concepts and literacy in a way that will attract both my science lovers and my book lovers! The kits will invite students to interact with stories they know and love, as well as use problem-solving skills and science and math skills to help solve a problem from the story. It will also give them opportunities to practice working cooperatively toward a goal.
Trying to figure out how things work is a natural part of a child's life.
The building brick STEM kits in this project will provide them with materials and building challenges. The problem-solving skills and interpersonal skills students will gain from using these materials will help them in all areas of life.
While these materials are educationally sound, they are also FUN! When students enjoy what they're doing, they are open to learning so many things! I know my inquisitive, creative students will learn so much while enjoying themselves.
