My students need an iPod docking station for rehearsing the music, and art supplies for creating staging and backdrop.

Music makes so many cross-curricular connections: language arts, social studies, and culture. Telling a story through drama, song, staging, and costuming creates an unforgettable learning experience for students and families alike.
Our students are from a highly transient, high poverty area of Federal Way.
Many students have very stressful home situations. Many parents are working long hours in order to survive, and in some cases, there may be only one parent. Parents may want to spend time with their children, but face limits due to work schedules. In some homes there are occurrences of substance abuse, child abuse, or neglect. So for the children, life is survival, and enrichment opportunities are rare. School provides a safe place for the child to dream, to explore, to discover, to flourish. This project is one of many opportunities we provide students at Lake Grove to learn and grow.
The life of Martin Luther King was a life of service and sacrifice. He left a legacy of freedom, personal responsibility and hope that inspires us, and will continue to inspire us for generations to come. "We Are the Dream" brings to life people, places, and events that shaped Martin Luther King, Jr. into the leader of the voice of the civil rights movement in our nation. Learning about his life can inspire us all to serve and sacrifice to make our nation a better nation.
Your donations will help provide the materials needed for backgrounds, and music rehearsals.
Our students, as they plan, prepare and carry out the lessons and the practices, will have an ownership in the program, and memories that will last a long time.
