This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a Title I school attempting to support the whole child in academics, social, and physical areas. We strive to give our students exposure to community jobs, roles, and real-life experiences. Our school community strives to meet all learners through a variety of engaging experiences and through hands-on learning.
My students range from a variety of needs, from communication to sensory.
They deserve access to materials that assist them in practicing skills and allows them to engage in developmentally appropriate ways in the classroom, as well as the community.
My Project
The bones, animal and people figurines are characters from our next two monthly units and with these figurines will allow my students to retell the stories.
Using the figurines to retell our curriculum stories in our sensory bins will help the academics come to life!
We will be using these materials at home during distance learning to assist students to work on literacy and math skills in a developmentally appropriate way. Retelling, acting out, and engaging with props helps our young brains develop and promotes engagement and focus, which is especially hard for us during distance learning.
