My students need storage for their task cards and a fun alternative for paper and pencil type work that allows us to not use a lot of paper and allow for repetitive practice.
I run a program for 8th graders through 12th graders that focuses on teaching academic skills through real life experiences. Our goal is to increase students' independent living and vocational skills.
My students enjoy life and are a constant reminder to look for joy in the smallest of things because they are able to find it everywhere.
Every day is a new adventure and my students teach me something new each and every day and it is my hope that I am able to return the favor!
My Project
My kids need an easy storage solution for independent work that allows them to easily access their daily work with minimal adult support which I plan to do by placing their work in the individual boxes that are included in the photo embellishment craft storage keeper. Each one will be labeled and filled with different task cards such as reading nutrition labels, measuring ingredients for recipes, fractions, reading maps or charts etc...
They also need repetition to learn tasks so an erasable option helps us save on paper and allow for as much repeated practice as necessary.
The reusable dry ease pockets can be used by placing a worksheet into the pocket and then the student can answer questions using a dry erase marker. Once they are finished they turn it into us to be graded and can either make corrections or if it is something they are proud of and want to share with parents they can take a picture with their chromebook and submit to class dojo to share with mom and dad. This reduces the amount of paper we have to use and also allows for minimal storage. The kids also find tasks more fun when they get to use the dry erase markers and wipe off their own sheets.
