Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every morning, I start my day off with greeting each child with a hand shake, high five, or a hug. This allows me to check in with each student.
My students are the best!
They are sweet, polite, hard working, loving, and generous.
They are 100% English language learners. However, that does not dull their brightness or dim their love of learning. Many of my students struggle in English, but they have a uncontrollable appetite for learning. They love to figure out how things work. They are very loving and deserve the very best education. They come to school with a positive attitude even when they face tough challenges at home.
My Project
My school is getting brand new Kindergarten classrooms next year and they are absolutely beautiful! Of course with all construction, there is never enough money to get the storage that is required.
One of the storage units that I am asking for (the 8- cubby storage) will be used to house all my mini erasers (a project that was recently funded) for our math counting collections.
I have been making all different numbered containers so that children can practice counting up to different numbers (and the kids are absolutely loving counting with the mini erasers)! My plan is the have each cubby house a different number (20, 30, 44, 50. 60, 70, 80, and 100). This way kids can pull out the numbered drawer that they want and find the fun mini eraser of their choice.
In the new classroom there are not very many cubbies that are accessible to young children, so I am asking for two low storage units. With there not being much counter space as well, there is not enough space in the classroom to house our book boxes that are used daily for reading, so one of the storage units I am asking for has wheels and will house all of the book boxes in a condensed space.
Having all of these materials will help keep our classroom organized and a space that kids want to learn in.
