My Students
We are a very small pre-k through sixth grade elementary school, and I am the only 6th grade teacher in the building. What makes this rural North Carolina school so truly amazing is that we are like a family. Each year, I create a special bond with these kiddos, that continues throughout the rest of their educational journey.
The students I have this school year are fun, loving, and energetic 6th graders with a passion for learning new and exciting things.
Many come from low-income families that cannot afford a lot of the school supplies, so I try my best to accomodate them when I can.
I am looking forward to an amazing school year with 24 awesome students!
My Project
This school year, I have decided to switch out the students desks for tables. I feel this will allow more cooperative learning and establish organizational skills. However, with tables, there is a lack of storage for student materials such as books, folders, pencil boxes, etc.
I would like the students to each have their own personal chair storage pocket, to store items that they need frequently need throughout the day.
Students will need easy and quick access to their writers' notebooks, math workbooks, and daily folders, without having to constantly get up and go to their cubbies. The storage pockets would be a tremendous help with that.
