My Students

My students attend school in a very low-income/high poverty area. With a school-wide free and reduced-price lunch rate over 70%, my students face hardships every day.

Many of my students are unable to purchase school supplies at the beginning of the school year.

My students are extremely bright, optimistic, and very caring. These students deserve a fresh and completely prepared start to the upcoming school year. The start of the school year often determines how the rest of the year will go.

My Project

My classroom has recently received tables from a DonorsChoose.org project. The tables have allowed students more work space and also allow easier collaboration among peers. The only downside to having tables in the room is the lack of storage that single desks use to provide.

My students need drawers where they can store their supplies for their interactive notebooks.

My students use interactive notebooks in class every day. The notebooks have been an incredible tool, but they take a lot of time, work, and materials. Students use glue, scissors, coloring pencils, markers, tape, and even dictionaries on a weekly basis. Having storage drawers for each table would allow my students to have a place to keep all of their needed supplies.
