Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is a Title I charter in San Francisco. Mostly made up of English Language Learners, our room is constantly working on the acquisition of new vocabulary and better understanding multiple languages through literature.
My room is full of hilarious, genuine, and vocal first grade minds who exhibit a natural curiosity for the ever-evolving world around them.
A typical day looks chaotic and sounds rowdy. We are an active bunch that loves to learn through discussion, movement, and projects. All in all, there is simply nothing typical about this inquisitive bunch.
My Project
These resources will allow my students to access all of our learning materials. Right now, my students are unable to access writing materials, word work folders or sight word lists independently. These materials will allow me to organize my room in a way that is more accessible to my learners. The bins will create storage at my students level, so students can access their own math manipulatives, just right books, and art supplies.
The rotating caddy stations will allow learning to occur independently and at a quicker pace.
Students will be able to walk over to get writing tools, markers, and erasers. This will free me up to focus on larger learning goals while teaching my students crucial independent and organization skills.
