Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I teach in a wonderful class with students who are hard working, loving, and who are becoming much more independent every day. Often times, though, they do need support with varying things like tying shoes, blowing noses, cleaning spills, wiping messy faces, writing their names, logging onto their computers and more. I am lucky to have a paraprofessional who is available to assist with those things while I focus on instruction. But because of the limited space in our room, our para is without a desk to work from and store things for students to use.

Please help me to provide the essential materials that my para needs in order to support our students!

I would like to get some materials that she uses to support students directly, such as baby wipes, cleaning wipes, tissues, writing tools, and more! Baby wipes will be used to wipe messy faces after lunch and snack. Cleaning wipes will be used to wipe the tables to prevent the spread of germs. Students also practice independence by helping wipe our tables. Students will use tissues to blow their noses. Bandaids will be used to put on booboos. The jumbo pencils are easier to grip for students still learning fine motor skills. With these extras, we will be able to support students without having to stop instruction to sharpen pencils. Students love the animals that hug their woulds and they really help them to feel better! I would also like to order storage shelves so that we have a place to house the aforementioned materials.
