My students are not only hungry, but they are hungry to learn and create on a daily basis. At our Title I school, all students receive free breakfast and lunch on a daily basis.
My students face many challenges.
Many are from single family homes or from military families. Many of my students' families can't afford basic school supplies for their children, such as pencils, paper, or even materials needed to complete classroom reports. Despite these challenges, they are eager and ready to learn.
My students have struggled at home and it is my job to make sure they are able to accomplish what they wish in school. One thing I would like to do this year is to provide my students with a classroom that serves as an escape from whatever they are dealing with outside of school, space where they feel happy, safe, and loved.
My Project
Children learn best when they are comfortable in their workspace. These stools will give my students chances to have flexible seating while keeping my students focused and engaged in our fifth-grade classroom. Achievement levels will certainly soar with the flexible seating options. All learners will have a chance to succeed. That is why I am requesting these flexible seating options to be used throughout my classroom. The storage stools will be well used and loved! I love that it doubles as storage for community items, such as dry erase boards to be used while in small group reading or math. The storage will help save some space in the room and will be able to pack up easily at the end of the year since the stools stack up conveniently. Our room is limited in space, so I am always looking at ways to find clever storage methods for various items for both the students and myself.
These flexible seating options will provide students with opportunities for motion while completing their learning tasks.
By placing these active seating choices around the room, a normally stationary activity now offers movement without interrupting others. I especially love that these can store supplies the kids and I use on a daily basis. Thank you for supporting my classroom.
