Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a Title I, low Income (94.46 free/reduced-price lunch), International Spanish academy and AVID School. The students at our school come from mostly international families that do not speak English. These students are good children and try their best in school, but need a lot of encouragement. Most of the parents do not have a lot of money to buy school supplies that these children need for the classroom, never mind anything that the teachers would need to help facilitate student learning.
I have had very generous donations of books twice this year but now I need to have where to put them in my classroom.
We also want to make sure the new books are protected when the students take them home to read, so purchasing plastic pouches will take care of that concern.
My Project
We have been grateful for the funding of two book projects this year.
We need storage in the classroom to keep our new books organized and plastic book protectors in order to take our new books home to read.
We want to have easy accessibility to the new books we got. These carts will be able to be rolled to wherever the students are in the classroom and the bins can be removed as well.
The plastic pouches are so wonderful because the students can take the books home and not worry as much about something happening to the books.
