This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a Special Education teacher in a 12:1:1 self-contained classroom in NYC, I feel so much pride in seeing my students really enjoying learning. It is truly amazing to see many of my students who have emotional/developmental delays thoroughly enjoy lessons; however, we are in a low-income neighborhood, and my students can barely afford to purchase their own supplies.

Over ninety-five percent of the students receive public assistance, live in shelters, are displaced or doubled up.

Knowing the future of my students depends on it, I try to foster a classroom where their love for learning will grow!

My Project

All of our students want to come and be in school, but it has been so difficult these past years. First the Covid -19 Virus is now they dealing with this new virus called Omicron that is affecting our children. I want my students to feel safe in the school in our classroom when they come in, I don't want them to be afraid that they are going to get sick while they are sitting in the class learning. The hand sanitizer, lysol spray, etc cleaning wipes will keep our class clean.
